Post-Renovation Assessment of Cultural and Touristic Pathways A Case Study of El Nabi Daniel Street, Alexandria
Alexandria is a city rich in history, home to numerous cultural landmarks and monuments that reflect its diverse and layered past. However, there is a lack of a cohesive network between heritage sites; they remain dispersed throughout the city without a unifying spine, path, or cultural route. This research focuses on El Nabi Daniel Street—one of Alexandria’s oldest and most historically significant streets—as a potential cultural spine that could unify key heritage nodes. Its recent renovation and transformation into a pedestrian-friendly corridor further enhance its potential as a prime candidate for a cultural touristic spine. The paper aims to evaluate how recent renovations could transform El Nabi Daniel Street from a simple thoroughfare into a significant cultural touristic path, based on evaluation criteria derived from both literature review and similar case studies. Therefore, revitalizing the city's heritage sites, attracting tourists, and introducing a relatively new concept to the citizens of Alexandria, with the broader hope of encouraging its adoption across Egypt, as is a common practice in Europe.
