Examining Gd 0.5 Yb 0.5 CrO 3 Nanoparticles’ Electrochemical Performance as a Supercapacitor Electrode Material
ABSTRACT The present study deals with exploring the electrochemical performance of the sol‐gel‐derived Gd 0.5 Yb 0.5 CrO 3 nanoparticles as a supercapacitor electrode material. The capacitive properties of the synthesized compound were thoroughly examined in 2 M KOH aqueous electrolyte via cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The nanoparticles exhibited high stability and moderate specific capacity. A modest specific capacitance of 21.38 Fg −1 was measured at a scan rate of 5 mVs −1 . The energy density and power density at 4 Ag −1 current density values were 1.38 Whkg −1 and 1.54 Wkg −1 , respectively. The capacitance retention remained at 54.23% until the final segment of the galvanostatic charge–discharge process. The relaxation time was 0.18 s at a corresponding frequency of 5.623 Hz. The observed results classify the Gd 0.5 Yb 0.5 CrO 3 compound as a promising material for supercapacitor application.
