The number of fractures of the distal radius in older adult patients will almost double by 2040
The number of fractures of the distal radius is predicted to nearly double in the next two decades due to a predicted increase in the number of fractures in older patients (aged ≥ 65 years). This will have substantial implications for future health and social care resource planning. Further work that aims to better define the indications for surgery and the role of non-operative management in this patient group is an urgent research priority.
