STUDY ON THE DESIGNATION PROCESS AND MANAGEMENT OF HISTORIC DISTRICTS IN THE UNITED STATES
The purpose of this study is to clarify the process of designation and operation of a Historic District in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, the U.S. The results show that the designation of Little Tokyo as a Historic District was achieved based on the activities of a local non-profit organization, and that the Community Redevelopment Agency supported the application. The non-profit organization, which is the main operator of the Historic District, is able to operate the Historic District stably because it has the financial strength to manage a number of properties in addition to the Historic District.
