Synthesis and Application of Chitosan‐Salicylic Acid Magnetic Nanoparticles in Colon Cancer Cells

ABSTRACT In this study, magnetic nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 @CS‐SAL) were synthesized using chitosan as a stabilizer and conjugated with salicylic acid. The nanoparticles were characterized by powder x‐ray diffraction (PXRD), field emission electron microscopy (FESEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). PXRD analysis determined a grain size of approximately 19 nm, while FESEM and TEM confirmed their spherical morphology with a mean diameter of ∼100 nm and a narrow size distribution. The cytotoxicity of Fe 3 O 4 @CS‐SAL was evaluated against colon cancer cells (C26), demonstrating significant toxic effects. Additionally, their antioxidant activity was assessed via the DPPH assay, yielding an IC 50 of approximately 62.5 µg/mL.
