Influence of Carb on Nanotube Incorporation on the Performance of Molded R‐ <scp>BAPB</scp> Polyimide
ABSTRACT Nanomodified polyimide powders based on partially crystalline polyimide (PI) and single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) were obtained in the course of the synthesis of polyimide powder by chemical imidization. The nanomodified polyimide powders were used to prepare bulk materials (moldings) by injection molding. Differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy showed that carbon nanotubes acted as effective nucleating agents; their presence led to the modification of the supramolecular structure and a significant increase in the crystallization rate of the polymer. Mechanical properties of the produced polyimide moldings containing carbon nanofillers were studied both in amorphous and crystallized states. The introduction of carbon nanoparticles into polyimide made it possible to obtain fusible moldings with improved mechanical characteristics.
