Slope Design Using Slip-Line Theory in Inverse First-Order Reliability Method Framework
Slope design considering the uncertainty of the soil parameters is gradually receiving attention. However, the conventional probability analysis approach has found limited application in practical engineering applications due to its low computational performance. This work presents a slip-line theory-based probabilistic method for slope design in order to bypass the difficulty in the establishment of the deterministic analysis model due to the change of the geometric shape. To quickly and accurately identify the design slope angle satisfying the objective failure probability, the inverse first-order reliability method is adopted in this paper. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using a case study. The results show that the proposed method can obtain the design slope angle satisfying the objective failure probability with only several iterations of calculation, indicating the efficiency of the proposed method.
