The simulation of the structure and performance for perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cells

Tandem solar cells maximize the utilization of the solar spectrum by stacking materials with different bandgaps, making them one of the most promising approaches to surpass the efficiency limits of single-junction cells. Among these, perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cells, capable of being fabricated on flexible substrates, hold significant potential for development. In this study, we systematically analyze and optimize perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cells via wxAMPS simulations integrated with experimental parameters, achieving high simulated efficiency of 33.78% through critical design innovations. By systematically optimizing the light-absorbing layer thickness (0.15[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m for perovskite, 1.5[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m for CIGS) and bandgap alignment (1.8[Formula: see text]eV perovskite/1.2[Formula: see text]eV CIGS), spectral and current matching are realized, effectively minimizing photoelectric losses. A novel p/p[Formula: see text]-type tunneling junction scheme is proposed to replace conventional n[Formula: see text]/p[Formula: see text] structures, simplifying fabrication processes while still maintaining good performance. These findings provide both theoretical guidance and practical strategies for developing low-cost, high-efficiency flexible perovskite/CIGS tandems, bridging the gap between simulation and industrial-scale manufacturing.
