Compliance With Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Hip Arthroplasty Following Neck of Femur Fractures: A Retrospective Clinical Audit Study
Compliance with the trust's guideline was suboptimal, with only 84 of 121 flucloxacillin recipients (69.4%) completing all three postoperative doses. Superficial wound infections occurred in two patients who received no postoperative antibiotics and in one teicoplanin-treated case, and no PJIs were observed. Improved documentation, prescriber education, and routine monitoring are needed to optimise prophylaxis and sustain very low infection rates.
