Optical analysis of RE3+ (RE = Pr, Tm): MgLa2V2O9 phosphors

This paper reports on the synthesis of RE3+ (RE = Pr, Tm): MgLa2V2O9 powder phosphors using the conventional solid-state reaction method. XRD analysis confirms the monoclinic crystalline nature of the synthesized phosphors. SEM images reveals the agglomerated nature of the particles. EDAX analysis confirms the presence of elements in the prepared phosphors. FTIR spectroscopy was employed to investigate the functional groups of the prepared phosphors. Photoluminescence spectra (PL) shows an orange-red emission for Pr3+ at 607 nm (1D2→3H4) for an excitation at 488 nm and for Tm3+ a blue emission corresponding to 452 nm (1D4→3F4) with an excitation of 359 nm. Decay curves were recorded to evaluate the emission life-time of Pr3+ and Tm3+: MgLa2V2O9 powder phosphors and the emission mechanism was explained in terms of energy level diagram. The richness of orange-red and blue color has been verified by (x, y) chromaticity coordinates of CIE diagram.
