Application of Digital Technologies to Achieve Maximum Wear Margin for Clearance Fits

The article proposes a method for assembling clearance fits using digital technologies to ensure the maximum wear margin, on the example of the camshaft–bushing fit of the YaMZ-236 engine. After complete interchange assembly, the spread of the wear margin is 0.105–0.175 mm, which complicates prediction of the residual service life of the fit. Selective assembly using digital technologies increases the minimum permissible wear margin (0.171–0.175 mm) compared to complete interchange assembly, under which the margin range is 0.135–0.175 mm. Under the proposed digital selection method, the clearance spread corresponds to the machining tolerance, and the difference between the highest and lowest values does not exceed 5%.
