Electron Energy Spectra in Jupiter's Radiation Belts From Juno‐JEDI
Abstract Radiation transport simulations of the Jupiter Energetic‐particle Detector Instrument (JEDI) onboard the Juno spacecraft were performed to understand its response to high energy electrons. Determination of the JEDI response function is the first rigorous effort of its kind and was used to reconstruct the true electron foreground, extending the electron spectrum beyond the standard calibration range of JEDI. The analysis of data from Juno Perijove (PJ) 1 through PJ24 is compared with the standard JEDI data products as well as with predictions from the Galileo Interim Radiation Electron model, showing good agreement for L > 15 and lower fluxes for L < 15.
