Cardiac myxoma: A report of two cases and review of the literature
Cardiac myxoma is the most common benign primary tumor of the heart, with 75%-85% of cases occurring in the left atrium. According to the etiology and genetics, cardiac myxomas are divided into sporadic cardiac myxomas and familial or syndrome-related myxomas. However, few reports on familial myxoma are reported due to its low incidence rate, which may lead to challenges for clinicians in diagnosing and treating familial myxoma. Here, we report a case of sporadic cardiac myxoma and a case of familial myxoma. In addition, we reviewed previous reports on cardiac myxomas and summarized the clinical, imaging, and pathological characteristics of myxomas, hoping to help clinical doctors improve their understanding of cardiac myxoma and make more rapid and accurate diagnoses and treatments.
