Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide Deposit Related Alteration Zone Mapping with PRISMA Hyperspectral Imagery
PRISMA hyperspectral data is used for mapping the hydrothermal alteration zones associated with Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) deposits in the Betul Belt, Madhya Pradesh, India. Based on the absorption features of Al-OH and Mg-OH, absorption depth indices are used to demarcate the Al- and Mg-alteration zones. Laboratory spectroscopic studies of collected samples provide a comprehensive understanding of the variation of absorption features in the Short-Wave Infrared Region (SWIR) with variations in mineralogy. Field validation and SEM-EDS confirm the mineralogy of the alteration zones. The results demonstrate PRISMA's potential for mineral mapping and its integration with spectroscopy techniques for resource exploration. This study involves remote sensing-based alteration zone mapping of the Betul Belt for the first time.
