On the nature of the red shift in absorption spectra of β-dicarbonyl chelates

This work offers an interpretation of the red shift in the spectra of mononuclear dicarbonyl chelates. The spectral effect relates to O–O′ distance and depends on the coupling between 2pσ z orbitals of oxygen atoms and d-orbitals of the metal ion.
