The relationship between the expression and clinicopathology of long non-coding RNA in older adults with non-small cell lung cancer

This study investigates the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in older adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its relationship with clinicopathology. Tumor and adjacent normal tissues were collected from 97 elderly NSCLC patients. The differentiation antagonizing non-protein coding RNA (DANCR) expression was analyzed using microarray and validated by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Bioinformatic methods identified DANCR-associated pathways. Clinicopathological correlations were assessed using logistic regression, and survival analysis was performed based on 24-month follow-up data. DANCR was significantly upregulated in tumor tissues (P < .005) and associated with larger tumor diameter, advanced stage, and poor differentiation (P < .05). Patients with low DANCR expression exhibited longer overall survival and progression-free survival (P < .05). lncRNAs are differently expressed and potentially play a regulatory role in the occurrence and development of NSCLC in older adults. Candidate lncRNA DANCR is highly expressed in older adults with NSCLC, which closely relates to clinical pathology and can contribute to progression-free survival and overall survival time prediction.
