Videos Online: The integration of contemporaneous videos to enhance online education
Videos have been an instructional tool for quite some time, but their use in online education has become more prevalent as technology has improved and recording content has become more accessible. There are numerous video formats, including recorded lectures, screencasts, explainer videos, learner-created, and contemporaneous. Contemporaneous videos can support engagement and be beneficial in online teaching and learning by promoting community, creating accessible learning environments, and personalizing the learning experience. These videos are intended for a specific audience and are not to be used repeatedly. Thus, they can be personalized, personal, and demonstrate instructor responsiveness to course and learner needs.
