Effects of BodyPump Exercise on Body Weight and Blood Lipid Metabolism in Obese Men
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Body Pump exercise on improving obesity factors and blood lipids in obese men, and to suggest Body Pump as an exercise therapy to prevent male obesity. BPE showed a significant change in body weight, decreasing from 83.92±4.06 before to 80.57±3.92 after (p<.001***), and EC showed a significant change, increasing from 86.66±5.95 before to 87.83±5.73 after (p<.001***). BPE showed a significant change in TG, decreasing from 204.6±13.46 before to 185.8±15.95 after (p<.01***), and EC showed a significant change, increasing from 202±18.7 before to 203.7±20.9 after (p<.01***). BPE showed a significant change in LDL-C, decreasing from 166.8±9.89 before to 151.2±13.29 after (p<.01**), and EC increased from 163±9.86 before to 163.6±12.01 after, but there was no significant change. BPE showed a significant change in HDL-C, increasing from 38.9±5.08 before to 40.8±4.36 after (p<.01**), and EC showed a significant change, decreasing from 37.7±7.31 before to 36.6±7.21 after. In light of the results of this study, it is suggested that BodyPump exercise has an effective effect on improving blood lipid metabolism factors such as TG, LDL-C, and HDL-C in obese men. Consistent with previous studies, compound exercise such as BodyPump appears to combine the advantages of aerobic and resistance exercise to regulate blood lipid levels through physiological mechanisms such as promotion of fatty acid metabolism and apolipoprotein synthesis. In particular, a decrease in LDL-C and an increase in HDL-C were observed together, confirming that it can have a positive effect on preventing cardiovascular disease. Therefore, obese men need systematic and continuous compound exercise such as BodyPump to promote cardiovascular health and prevent metabolic diseases. In future studies, it is judged that research on long-term effects and exercise programs by exercise intensity and frequency for subjects including various age groups and health conditions is necessary.
