This paper discusses the Deep Integration Teaching Model developed at Shanghai Jing’an Education College Affiliated School in Shanghai of China. Design/Approach/MethodsSince 2013, the school has initiated a reform intended to tackle pervasive problems in nine-year compulsory education system in China. Specifically, the reform follows the paradigm of educational scientific research, exploring through pilot projects in Grades 3 and 6, gradually expanding the scope of practice, and promoting it to all students in Grades 1–9 through teacher action research and evidence-based iteration. This model establishes a paradigm for cultivating innovative spirit and practical competencies that is vertically coherent, horizontally integrated, and accessible to all students at the compulsory education . Originality/ValueThe Deep Integration Teaching Model provides a replicable and promotable “Chinese solution” to global STEM education.
