Massive clots with slight D-dimer increase in a young patient without thrombophilia — 4-year follow-up
Despite known risk factors, many thrombotic episodes are unprovoked. A negative D-dimer result, in patients without significant risk factors, excludes thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in most cases. This article presents a case of massive arterial and venous thrombosis with a slightly elevated D-dimer level that did not indicate a thrombotic process, and the four-year follow-up of a patient in whom recurrence of a thrombus in the heart ventricle was observed during anticoagulant treatment.
