Abstract

With the vigorous development of cultural relics and archaeology in China, archaeological discovery exhibitions, as the main interpretive subject of major archaeological achievements, have received widespread public attention. On the 100th anniversary of the beginning of modern archaeology in China, the 70th anniversary of large-scale field archaeology in Guangzhou and the 40th anniversary of the excavation of the Tomb of the Nanyue King Wen, Nanyue King Museum launched a series of exhibitions featuring the 100 Archaeological Discoveries in the Past Centennium, which has received good social response. This article focuses on the curation practice of content design and cultural relics selection of this series of exhibitions. From three aspects: originality, immersive experience, and resonance with the present, it explores how to break through the limitations of the temporary exhibition of archaeological discoveries through thematic approaches, narrative immersion, exhibition interpretation, audience guidance and other means, in order to attract, retain, and inspire audiences, and achieve a true connection and dialogue between the audience and curators. The improvement of the quality of archaeological discovery exhibitions is of great significance for promoting archaeological achievements, facilitating archaeological research, advancing the development of archaeological disciplines, and reshaping the modern value of cultural heritage.
