Internet Co-production: A New Model of Public Service Supply in Museums

Internet technology serves as a novel approach to facilitate the joint production of museum public services. Based on the notion of co-production theory and the significant role of the public in museum public service, this paper examines the public role of museums and the mode of co-production in the context of the Internet. It is discovered that various public roles and the new co-production models such as subcontract cooperation, government platform and automation all contribute to or promote the supply of museum public services to a certain extent. As for the problems such as insufficient public participation, imperfect platform construction, and data security in co-production under the Internet environment, museums need to optimize the online platform environment, enhance the quality and level of open data, explore government-enterprise cooperation, construct system and other aspects for improvement and enhancement, thereby promoting the high-quality development of museum public services.

It is discovered that various public roles and the new co-production models such as subcontract cooperation, government platform and automation all contribute to or promote the supply of museum public services to a certain extent.
