Interweaving and Integration: Museums and Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sustainable Development
After the adoption of the United Nations’ the Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, China has been committed to promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since establishing the 13th Five-Year Plan. In the field of museums and intangible cultural heritage (ICH), the concept of sustainable development has gradually been integrated into the development goals and work strategies. This research discusses the value, significance, practices, and effect of museums and ICH in promoting sustainable development. Influenced by the integration between museums and the ICH sector, museum-based ICH safeguarding efforts are reshaping the functions, practices, and development directions of museums. This not only contributes to achieving sustainable development goals but also supports the sustainability of both museums and ICH.
