Platinum-catalyzed degradation of epoxy resins in water under hydrothermal conditions for recovery of small organic molecules
Abstract The efficient degradation of various amine-cured epoxy resins to recover phenol compounds without any stoichiometric external additives has been achieved by employing platinum catalysts in subcritical water at 250 °C. Control experiments using model compounds and density functional theory analysis revealed the importance of γ-aminoalkyl moiety for the progression of the reaction.
