Terahertz 3–8 decoder using graphene-based triple-meander-line filter metasurface
Abstract This study proposes a terahertz metasurface decoder based on a triple-meander-line filter structure. By incorporating controllable openings into each level of the triple-meander-line metallic arms, a structure combination logic analogous to a 3–8 decoder is achieved, enabling multi-state terahertz response modulation. Simulation results demonstrate distinct frequency-domain characteristics within the frequency range of 0.303–0.576 THz across different structural configurations. On this basis, graphene is further integrated as a dynamically tunable functional material within the gap regions. Through Fermi energy modulation, controllable conductive switching is realized without geometric alteration, enabling a dynamically reconfigurable terahertz 3–8 decoder. This work establishes a novel design paradigm and theoretical framework for terahertz metamaterial devices featuring logic-mapping functionality, high reconfigurability, and electrical tunability, with significant potential for advanced applications.
