GÖRSEL BİR HAFIZA ARACI OLARAK FOTOĞRAFIN 19.YÜZYILDAN GÜNÜMÜZE SANATSAL GELİŞİMİ
Throughout human history, social events have influenced art and led to radical transformations in culture and art. During the Renaissance, when humanism rose, liberation across various fields allowed for the development of new artistic techniques. The camera obscura technique, discovered during the Renaissance but only fully realized in the 19th century, laid the foundation for photography, one of the most widely used art practices today. In the 20th century, artists turned to different searches and techniques to address the changing meanings of art, and photography became one of these searches. The relationship between painting and photography began when painters sought to transfer figures onto canvas with greater clarity by utilizing photographic images. As photography took its place within the plastic arts, the aesthetic and conceptual values of art were opened to debate, with some even suggesting that the invention of photography marked the end of painting. But what has become apparent over time is that photography has strengthened art both in all art disciplines and in its own pure form. The aim of the study is to question the hybridizing relationship between photography and art disciplines since the 19th century and to provide information on its artistic uses.
