Boyar Madde Gideriminde Çam Kozalaklarının Adsorban Olarak Kullanımının Araştırılması

Technological advancements and the rise of industrialization have created significant adverse effects on the environment. Wastewaters containing dyes, commonly used in the textile industry, are among the primary sources of industrial pollution. Various treatment methods have been developed to remove dyes from water; however, some of these methods are associated with high costs and may generate by-products that are even more hazardous than the original pollutants. This situation necessitates the adoption of more economical and environmentally sustainable methods.Adsorption is a preferred method due to its low cost, ease of application, and ability to prevent the formation of harmful by-products. A critical aspect of the adsorption process is the selection of the adsorbent material. This study evaluates the utilization of pine cones, which are abundantly available, particularly on the university campus, as adsorbent material. To enhance the adsorptive properties of pine cones, a chemical modification method using HCl was applied. In this research, pine cones washed with pure water were ground using a simple grinder and subjected to sieve analysis. Following the preliminary treatment, pine cones were modified with HCl, their pH adjusted to 7, and stored under appropriate conditions. The results demonstrated that raw and acid-modified pine cones could effectively serve as adsorbent materials for the removal of dyes in synthetic wastewater. Consequently, it was concluded that pine cones, which are widely available in Türkiye, can be evaluated as eco-friendly and cost-efficient adsorbent materials.

Wastewaters containing dyes, commonly used in the textile industry, are among the primary sources of industrial pollution. Various treatment methods have been developed to remove dyes from water; however, some of these methods are associated with high costs and may generate by-products that are even more hazardous than the original pollutants.
