Samsun İli İlkadım İlçesi Kalkancı Bölgesinde Sürdürülebilir Atık Yönetiminin Ağ Analizi İle Değerlendirilmesi

AbstractCollecting and transporting waste within the scope of Urban Solid Waste Management is one of the important activities of every municipality, and carrying out this activity causes high economic, social and environmental loads.Within the scope of the study, the collection and transportation of urban solid waste produced in the Kalkanca, Karasamsun and Baruthane neighbourhoods, where there are mostly residences in the İlkadım district of Samsun Province, was addressed by optimizing the collection routes using the Network Analysis tool in ArcGIS Pro software. ArcGIS Pro is an advanced GIS software. GIS is a system used for the collection, storage, analysis and visualization of geographical data. Data obtained from the Samsun İlkadım Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate was used in the route optimization. The generally used routes were determined by the GPS records of the relevant regional vehicle.Optimized results for reducing the time, performance and fuel required for waste collection indicate a distance reduction rate of 28.05% and 37.35%. These data indicate a significant cost reduction in operational municipal solid waste collection operations. In this context, it is evaluated that the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of the vehicles that will travel on the new routes will decrease in proportion to the distance they travel.
