Çevirme Formasyonu’nun (Kırıkkale) Eosen Mikropaleontolojisi
In the southeast of Kırıkkale; around Ceritkale and Hacıaliobası, there are limestones that surface in the shallow parts of the transgressive Çevirme Formation. The unit called Dulkadirli Limestone Member consists of gray-colored, medium-thick layered, sandy-silty and massive limestones containing Nummulites and coral, gastropod and bivalvia shells and is lateral-vertical transitional with the Çevirme Formation. 40 samples were taken in field studies, and as a result of the paleontological evaluations of the samples taken, a foraminiferal community consisting of Eocene-aged Alveolina pasticillata, Gyroidinella magna, Sphaerogypsina globula, Neorotalia vienotti, Valvulina orali, Nummulites sp., Ornatorotalia sp., Operculina sp., Gyroidinella sp., Textulariidae, Miliolidae was determined. Limestones are classified as packstone and boundstone according to Folk (1959) composition and Dunham (1962) texture-weighted classifications. Benthic foraminifera detected in the study area represent shallow marine hot carbonate-rich environments, especially continental shelves and coastal areas.
