Muhammed Ali Tâhâ ed-Durra’nın Tefsîru’l-Kur’âni’l-Kerîm ve İ‘râbuhû ve Beyânuhû Adlı Eserinin Üslûp ve Belagat Açısından İncelenmesi
The Noble Qur’an, revealed in Makkah in a “clear Arabic language,” has exerted a profound influence upon Arabic literature. This divine discourse, through its inimitable style, has captivated even those who rejected it, compelling them to reflect upon its message. Throughout history, numerous exegetical works (tafsīr) have been composed to better understand the Noble Qur’an, which has always addressed its audience with such powerful rhetoric and literary refinement. These exegetical works, have preserved the believers’ connection with the Qur’an across all eras, have served to strengthen their faith in and devotion to Allah the One who revealed it. Among such works is the tafsīr entitled Tafsīr al-Qur’ān al-Karīm wa Iʿrābuhū wa Bayānuhū, authored by the contemporary scholar Muḥammad ʿAlī Ṭāhā al-Durra, a native of Ḥimṣ, Syria. The most significant feature of this work is its linguistic approach to the Qur'an. In this study, the work in question has been analyzed within the framework of stylistic and rhetorical literature. In this regard, the mufassir’s treatment of matters such as eloquence (fasâḥah), rhetorical precision (balâghah), stylistic features, his approach to verses containing juristic rulings derived from controversial grammatical interpretations, his classification and definitions regarding topics like ḥāl and nidā’ in Arabic syntax, and his method of addressing various contemporary issues have all been briefly examined. Furthermore, the author’s observations concerning Qur’anic terminology and his approach to certain principles of taṣawwuf have been considered, thereby aiming to reflect the broader content of the tafsīr. In light of the foregoing, it becomes apparent that this work encompasses various Islamic sciences and presents a multi-faceted character. Hence, it may be stated that the tafsīr under study serves as a contemporary window opened onto the vast landscape of Islamic scholarship.
