Optimization of Energy Allocation and Waste Heat Recovery Configuration for the Multienergy Flow Systems of Industrial Parks
Industrial parks face complex energy management challenges from uncoordinated multienergy flows and low waste heat utilization. To address these issues, this study develops an integrated multienergy flow system that combines utility systems, intra- and interplant heat exchanger networks, organic Rankine cycle, absorption refrigeration cycle, and electric compression refrigeration technologies. Centralized, distributed, and hybrid waste heat recovery configurations, along with cold-sharing mechanisms, are proposed to coordinate energy generation, distribution, and conversion, effectively meeting the heating, cooling, and power demands of industrial parks. To obtain a system with the lowest economic cost, a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model is formulated to automatically determine the configuration of the multienergy flow system structure and simultaneously optimize energy pathways across the park. Two cases are studied, and the 2–8.5% total cost reduction against conventional designs has demonstrated the model’s efficacy in identifying the optimal energy system configurations and operations under specific energy supply demand conditions.
