Mu'tezilenin Altın Çağı
The Abbasids took part in history for nearly five centuries and ensured important political, religious, economic and social developments. Abbasids; by making Baghdad, which has a strategic importance, a center of attraction, their integration with different ethnic identities and cultures, and their emphasis on translation activities with the influence of Greek, Hellenic, Indian and Sassanid cultures, enabled important developments in the scientific and cultural fields. The rule of Ma'mun, one of the early Abbasid caliphs, was a turning point in the development of philosophical and theological schools of thought in Islamic history. Ma'mun, who adopted the Mu'tazilism as a sect in 212/827 and made the idea of "the superiority of Hz. Ali" and "the creation of the Quran" an official policy of the state, gradually abandoned the concept of freedom and adopted the concept of despotism called Mihna. The work of Prof. Dr. Nahide Bozkurt, The Golden Age of Mu'tazila, which we reviewed, can be evaluated as a source for readers who want to have brief and concise information about the period of Caliph Ma'mun.
