Intralobar pulmonary sequestration masquerading as a giant lung abscess in a 16-year-old male: a case report and literature review
Lung abscess may not represent a straightforward diagnosis. This case report highlights the necessity of including pulmonary sequestration in the differential diagnosis of lung abscess, particularly when clinicians encounter adolescent patients with significantly elevated CA19-9 levels. Chest computed tomography angiography is recommended as a diagnostic tool to reduce the risk of misdiagnosis and potentially life-threatening intraoperative hemorrhage.
