TARİHİ TAŞ KÖPRÜ RESTORASYONLARININ İŞLEYİŞ SÜRECİ İLE İLGİLİ BİR DOKTRİN

The maintenance and restoration of historic bridges, as part of immovable cultural heritage, is among the responsibilities of the General Directorate of Highways. Historic bridges occupy a more specialized area compared to other cultural heritage assets, and the number of experts in this field is quite limited. The number of accessible resources related to this field in the literature is also limited compared to other areas. Architects and engineers who are appointed to the General Directorate of Highways and assigned to work in the field of historic bridges are confronted with a working area where they lack prior knowledge and experience. This study aims to explain the essential details that newcomers to the field of historic bridges should know, based on literature sources and data obtained from field experiences. First, the relevant regulations and publications that should be known within the literature are briefly explained and then, each stage, from the registration of a historic bridge to the completion of restoration projects and implementation works, is described in detail. In the discussion and conclusion section, the challenges that building inspection officers who will oversee this field may face are identified, and suggestions are provided to address these challenges.

The maintenance and restoration of historic bridges, as part of immovable cultural heritage, is among the responsibilities of the General Directorate of Highways. Historic bridges occupy a more specialized area compared to other cultural heritage assets, and the number of experts in this field is quite limited.
