GÖRSEL RETORİK VE GÜÇ TEMSİLİ: MİLLİ SAVUNMA ÜNİVERSİTESİ AFİŞİNİN GÖSTERGEBİLİMSEL ÇÖZÜMLEMESİ

This study conducts a semiotic analysis of the promotional poster prepared by the Milli Savunma Üniversitesi (National Defence University) for the 2025 education plan and examines how the poster creates an ideological universe of meaning in terms of visual rhetoric and power representation. Symbolically, visual and written elements, the use of colour and other compositional elements are analysed within the framework of Roland Barthes' denotatif and konotatif semiotic model, and the messages that the poster tries to convey are analysed. The semiotic analysis reveals the role of military propaganda in the construction of national identity by evaluating the denotative and connotative meanings of the poster. The results of the study show that military posters are not only promotional tools but also important strategic communication elements that have the potential to create ideological perceptions on society. In this context, it has been revealed how military discourse is structured through visual elements, which messages are emphasised and what kind of impact is aimed on the audience. As a result, it has been seen that the Milli Savunma Üniversitesi promotional poster analysed is not only an informative tool, but also an important part of the process of social perception and ideological construction.
