Heat transfer and thermal analysis of novel horizontal pressured calciner

The calcination atmosphere and temperature within the calciner are crucial factors in catalyst production. Optimal calcination conditions promote the formation of catalysts with high activity and stability. However, excessively high temperatures can lead to the collapse of the catalyst structure and significant energy waste, especially after long-term exposure to corrosion, pressure and high-temperature conditions in roasting furnaces. Therefore, examining the temperature distribution in the calciner is critical for optimizing the calcination process and structural design. Analyzing the flow and temperature field distributions forms the basis for thermal stress analysis and can addresses issues related to the fracture of calciner. This study develops a novel horizontal pressured calciner structure and mathematical models to understand the effect of structural parameters and process parameters on critical performance.
