The Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in Perioperative Nursing Care
Perioperative nurses should be at the forefront of using artificial intelligence (AI) safely and ethically in the surgical environment. The use of AI in clinical practice will require continuous learning as AI evolves and new regulations are introduced. Perioperative nurses must be involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of AI as it is introduced into their practice. In this article, an overview of AI, the types of AI to anticipate in the perioperative setting, and recommendations for using AI safely are presented.
