Three-dimensional analysis of the inferior alveolar nerve in relation to mandibular morphology
Mandibular morphology, age, and the presence or absence of teeth significantly influence the position of the inferior alveolar nerve. Specific morphological types such as Straight and Cudgel can predict nerve course, which is crucial for surgical planning. Deeper nerve localization with increasing age and superficial positions in dentate regions are important clinical considerations. Individualized anatomical assessment using CBCT is recommended to enhance patient safety and minimize the risk of nerve injury in oral and maxillofacial interventions.
