THE CORRELATION BETWEEN HEALTH BEHAVIOR, ILLNESS UNCERTAINTY AND ULCER HEALING IN PATIENTS WITH HP-POSITIVE PEPTIC ULCERS
Abstract Objectives The study aimed to explore the relationship between health behavior, illness uncertainty and ulcer healing in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) positive infection and peptic ulcer disease (PU). Methods A total of 102 patients with Hp-positive PU who visited the Second People’s Hospital of Hefei from December 2022 to December 2024 were selected as the research subjects. They were followed up in a standardized manner for half a year, and the ulcer healing rate was recorded. The relationship between patients’ health behavior, illness uncertainty and ulcer healing were analyzed. The level of health behavior and illness uncertainty among patients with different degrees of illness and different prognoses were compared. The relationship between health behavior, illness uncertainty and ulcer healing rate in Hp-positive PU patients were analyzed. Results There were 102 completed follow-up among the 106 patients. Among the 102 patients, 40 cases achieved ulcer healing, with the ulcer healing rate being 39.22%. The health behavior level in ulcer healed patients was higher than that in non-healed patients, and the illness uncertainty level was lower than that in non-healed patients. The comparison of ulcer healing rates among patients with different health behavior and illness uncertainty levels showed statistically significant differences. The combination of healthy behavior and illness uncertainty has a relatively high accuracy in judging ulcer non-healing. Conclusions The health behavior and illness uncertainty of Hp-positive PU patients are closely related to ulcer healing. Clinically, attention should be paid to improving daily behavior and reducing illness uncertainty.
