RESEARCH ON THE APPLICATION OF THE WAR GAME TEACHING METHOD IN EMERGENCY TREATMENT NURSING TRAINING

Abstract Objectives To establish a war game-based emergency treatment nursing training model and explore its scientificity and feasibility. Methods Using a non-randomized group-based experimental research method, through the convenience sampling method, 38 nurses who joined the hospital in 2020 were included in the control group, and 33 nurses who joined in 2021 were included in the experimental group. The control group applied the classic case simulation teaching method, while the experimental group applied the war game teaching method. The knowledge and skills of emergency response for two groups were assessed. The clinical thinking ability assessment scale, the emergency response ability scale for public health emergencies, the emergency knowledge scale, and the Chinese version of the medical education environment scale were used for investigation. The effectiveness and practicality of the training mode were evaluated. Results A total of 63 nurses completed the training, including 32 in the experimental group and 31 in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference in the assessment scores of emergency response theory knowledge and skill operation between the two groups of nurses. The emergency knowledge and emergency capabilities, clinical thinking ability of the test group, as well as each dimension of the Chinese version of the Medical Education Environment Scale, were all higher than those of the control group. Conclusions The war game teaching method is highly practical. It can help trainees develop a combat-oriented mindset, cultivate core capabilities in combating the epidemic, and enhance their overall emergency rescue skills.
