CLINICAL APPLICATION OVERVIEW OF ZUSANLI (ST36) ACUPOINT IN PULMONARY AND SPLEEN SYSTEM DISEASES
Abstract Background The Yangming Meridian is known for its abundance of qi and blood, serving as the source of qi and blood production. It functions to generate qi and blood, nourish the body, and strengthen the acquired foundation. Zusanli (ST36), the He-sea point and lower He-sea point of the Stomach Meridian of Foot Yangming, can tonify qi and blood, reinforce healthy qi, eliminate pathogens, and prevent diseases, thereby greatly benefiting the acquired foundation. This study analyzes and summarizes the therapeutic effects of Zusanli (ST36) on pulmonary system diseases and spleen-related disorders, aiming to provide references for further research in this field and to offer guidance for clinical practice. Methods The article selected the 4 online databases (Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure) to search for relevant domestic literature, and then analyzed the valid ones among them. Results A total of 29 valid literatures were obtained. A review was conducted on the current research status of the Zusanli (ST36) acupoint in pulmonary and spleen system diseases. Conclusions Zusanli (ST36) has great efficacy in treating spleen system diseases (including anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain), and pulmonary system diseases (including recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTI), mycoplasma pneumonia, exogenous fever, bronchial asthma). It is one of the most frequently used acupoints in clinical practice for both disease prevention and treatment.
