Research Progress Perspectives of Functional Superslippery Coatings with Drag Reduction for Petroleum Pipeline Transportation

As an important role of global energy transportation, the operational efficiency of petroleum pipeline transportation directly affects the economic costs and the security of energy supply. However, the frictional resistance between the inner wall of the pipeline and the fluid leads to an increase in transport pressure, an increase in pumping energy consumption, and a decrease in transport volume, especially in the transportation of long-distance or high-viscosity crude oil. Traditional drag reduction techniques have problems such as high cost, unstable effect, and low transportation efficiency, so the development of new drag reduction coatings has become a hot research topic. In recent years, researchers have made significant progress in the directions of coating material design, preparation processes, and drag reduction mechanisms, but still facing challenges such as extreme environmental adaptability, coating durability, and large-scale engineering applications. In this paper, we systematically review the current research status of superslippery coatings in the field of petroleum pipeline drag reduction, list several kinds of drag reduction coating materialssuch as REBCO superconducting films and light-responsive self-healing coatingsthat can be applied in the field of oil transportation, analyze key technological bottlenecks, and look forward to future development directions , with a view to providing a reference for the development and industrialization of high-performance drag reduction coatings.
