Green Building for Sustainable Development: A Systematic Literature Review with a TCCM Approach
Green building, or sustainable construction, is a new strategy that the construction industry must adopt in place of conventional methods that prioritize environmental impact. This entails striking a balance between the need for development and prosperity and environmental conservation, ensuring that initiatives are carried out in a way that supports environmental sustainability. This paper aims to expand the understanding of green building development among academics and practitioners by detailing the evolution of green building research, highlighting its theoretical and practical implications, and identifying potential future research needs in this domain. The literature published in peer-reviewed journals serves as the foundation for this review. Using the theory, context, characteristics, and methodology (TCCM) framework, which helps to unravel the theories, contexts, characteristics, and methods followed in current green building research, the study’s goal is to determine the current state of green building research. This study provides a brief bibliometric analysis of green building research and offers alternative theoretical approaches for future research while identifying game theory as the primary theoretical foundation for green building research.
