Light-Responsive Kinetic Modeling of Microalgae Growth
Light intensity plays a crucial role in microalgal cultivation, directly affecting biomass productivity. This study investigates the growth dynamics of Chlorella sp. (ATCC 14854) under varying light conditions, building on existing research that underscores the significance of optimized illumination. Lumostatic strategies, which dynamically adjust light exposure to maximize photosynthetic efficiency, have emerged as effective methods for enhancing biomass yield while mitigating light limitation and photoinhibition. To advance this understanding, this study develops a growth kinetic mathematical model to predict Chlorella sp. (ATCC 14854) growth curves under both constant and varying light intensities. The proposed mathematical model is subsequently validated using an independent data set derived from lumostatic cultivation experiments using Chlorella zofingiensis.
