Advance directives in Ghana: a content analysis of three Ghanaian policy documents and their implications for dementia care
Although there are relevant documents on mental health and the aged in Ghana, advance directives are not an integral part of these documents. There are possible policies which can be revised to include advance directives. We recommend the inclusion of advance directives in these documents starting with the patients' charter which was cited in the Public Health Act. We also recommend the inclusion of trusted family members and health professionals in developing these advance directives.
