The playful intersections of gender and sexual fluidity

Purpose The author of The Playful Intersections of Gender and Sexual Fluidity explores the intersection of gender, sexuality and personal identity through the lens of play, self-expression and BDSM dynamics. Design/methodology/approach This study followed a reflexive autoethnographic narrative. Findings The author's journey emphasizes the importance of authentic self-expression, fluidity in sexuality and the joy of reclaiming personal power through play, while healing from past traumas and navigating complex relationships. Originality/value Reflecting on their childhood, the author shares how societal expectations of gender and sexuality shaped their experiences, particularly the repression they faced for not conforming to the binary gender system. Embracing gender fluidity as an adult, they begin to remove the masks placed upon them by society and family, finding healing and self-love through consensual BDSM and age-play with their partner.
