Research on multi-dimensional energy consumption evaluation method of mining electric shovel
• A DEM-MBD model of mining electric shovel energy consumption is constructed. • A multi-dimensional energy consumption evaluation method of MES is proposed. • The MES energy consumption is analysed under feedback/no-feedback power condition. • Reducing digging velocity is conducive to energy consumption per unit of output. To comprehensively understand the energy consumption characteristics and level of mining electric shovels, this paper selects a mainstream mining electric shovel in China as the specific research object. Based on the electric shovel’s structure and operating characteristics, a multi-dimensional energy consumption evaluation method is proposed. Subsequently, the energy consumption characteristics of the electric shovel are analyzed across multiple dimensions and operating conditions using DEM-MBD simulation and experimental testing. The results show that the maximum relative error of the DEM-MBD model is 7.62 %. A moderate reduction in digging velocity improves digging quality and reduces energy consumption per unit of digging quality. Under the feedback power condition, the energy consumption per unit of production can be reduced by 22.66 %, and the energy consumption for digging materials increases by 25.76 %. Further, considering feedback power can reduce slewing energy consumption by 86.17 % under the full-load condition. The feedback power effect during the travel of the mining electric shovel is not obvious, and the travelling energy consumption is higher in the low-velocity travelling state.
