Provider Preferences About a Polypill for Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction: Development of a Multicenter Physician Survey Containing a Discrete Choice Experiment

HFrEF polypills have been proposed as a strategy to improve uptake of HFrEF therapies. However, prescribers' preferences around the components and design of a HFrEF polypill are unknown. This study reports a rigorous five-stage process for designing a discrete choice experiment (DCE), in which U.S. cardiologists will choose between hypothetical HFrEF polypill products with various components and features. The DCE developed through this study will directly inform future clinical trials of HFrEF polypills. By describing the systematic process for developing a DCE, this study can guide other researchers interested in developing DCEs for cardiovascular research.
