Enhancing Legal Gender Recognition Frameworks: A Comparative Analysis Between Ireland and Thailand
ABSTRACT This comparative study examines the legal gender recognition frameworks of Thailand and Ireland to propose enhancements for Thailand's “Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics Recognition Bill, B.E. ….” Using content analysis, the research explores differences in legislative structures, procedural inclusivity, and implementation. Ireland's streamlined process emphasizes accessibility and equality, contrasting with Thailand's court‐centered approach. Key recommendations for Thailand include simplifying application procedures, broadening definitions to encompass non‐binary identities, and strengthening anti‐discrimination measures. These adjustments aim to align Thailand's framework with international standards, fostering inclusivity and protection for transgender individuals. The findings contribute to the global discourse on advancing legal gender recognition and promoting human rights.
