Parkinson’s Disease and Pregnancy. Resolution of The National Society for the Study of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders

Traditionally, Parkinson's disease is considered a disease of old age. However, in 5-10% of patients, it is detected before the age of 40 years. This age is included in the childbearing period. Beliefs of the unwantedness of pregnancy, its impossibility, or the high risks associated with delivery are common. However, data on the course of pregnancy are limited and conflicting. Therefore, the development of evidence-based recommendations is an urgent task. In recent years, new data have been obtained regarding the course of pregnancy in patients with Parkinson's disease, which are presented in this article.
